Hi Susan! how are you? Annan was having trouble with constipation
for a while until we got his MCT oil amount right. Does Molly use
it? It is Medium Chain Triglycerate, derived from palm kernel and
coconut oil. It is absorbed easier than long chain, is good for
getting ketones up and good for constipation. Too much though can
give diahorrea and vomiting. Annan has 10mls per meal. Molly would
probably need less. Talk to your dietician about it.
As for the artificial sweeteners and colours, some are bad, but some
are fine. Ask your dietician about this also.
Annan hasn't had a seizure for 24 days! Extremely excited! Is less
ataxic as well. Is rarely falling over now. Is holding my hands and
taking lots of steps. Trying not to get too excited, but even if it
doesn't last its a nice break from his average of 15 a day.
Good luck little Molly!
Hope your family is travelling ok in this rocky of roads Susan.
We've transferred to John Hunter in Newcastle as the Neurologist we
were seeing at SCH stopped listening to me because I didn't do what
they wanted, instead insisting he go on the diet, even tho he
started sitting by himself within a week and crawling within a month
of starting the diet.
Will be in Newcastle from June 11th-? exploring his recurrent from
birth feeding problems as well as his next MRI, EEG etc. If you're
around, give me a call. would love to catch up. let us know how that
gorgeous girl that I've had the priviledge to meet is going.

Hospital together this time last year.

brain injury over a year ago and since then has been on the anti-

drugs were getting us nowhere and suggested that we try her on the
keto diet.

positive effect on her seizures, which is very encouraging. Main
issues for us with the diet are not so much the food, but the
fluids. Prior to starting the diet Molly was progressing very
slowly with oral drinking and was really only managing thickened
fruit juice well.

with mixed success, and are keeping her hydrated with diet jelly
(yuck!). Her bowels are proving to be another big issue (previously
well managed just with prune & pear daily) - very painful &
distressing constipation. Also, I am not to thrilled about feeding
my under-2 year old artificial sweeteners and colourings on a daily
basis...
