Hello,
I am new to the group. My daughter Yzabelle is 3yrs old. She has been on the
keto diet for only 3 months. She is still having daily seizures but they have
been reduced by about 70%. I just read the message that Emily is going off the
diet...That is great! I will pray that everything continues to go good for her
and your family! Please keep us posted on how she is doing! Well, I hope to meet
some people here!
God Bless,
Nicole

I'm a little discouraged that noone has replied to my email. I
thought that someone has been in my situation. I am now weaning my
daughter off of the diet. We are down to a 2.5:1 ratio and she is
doing GREAT! Her birthday is in March and on the day of her party she
will have her first piece of cake! We are so excited. Please keep
us in your prayers (her name is Emily) and I will do the same.
Please reply !

This is the first time I've seen this email. You may want to join the Ketogenic
webgroup on yahoo- there are over 400 members on that site and it is very
active. I am sure someone would be able to help you there!! I am surprised if
this Keto Kids site gets a post once a month!
Congratulations on weaning- we have our eyes on that goal every day! Your family
is in our prayers that this wean will be successful!

Hi- you might want to check out the Ketogenic yahoo webgroup- it has many
members that will surely have helpful info for you. We get all our meal plans
from our dietician. One thing that my son loves is macadamia nuts with butter
for a snack! I am sure you have that in Hawaii! His other favorite meals are
bacon with butter and some fruit for breakfast, with cream of course. Steak with
veggies and fruit, cream. Hot dog with fruit or veggie, cream.

My daughter is almost 15 and has been on the diet for 6 months now. I try to
make her meals as much like ours as I can. In Ohio . . . that means gravy. It is
a little tricky, but once you get it figured out it is easy. If you have a
chicken, vegetable, butter and cream. You can make chicken in mushroom gravy or
pork chops and gravy. You cook the chicken first. Then fry the chicken and
mushroom in the butter. When it gets boiling a bit you ad the cream and stir for
just a minute or so . . .an wala you have gravy. The same thing works for
sausage and gravy. (Brits recipes generally have butter and oil . . .but it
works the same)
Our dietician also gave us a pizza recipe with egg whites, spaghetti sauce,
pepperoni, cheese, cream and oil. My daughter ads her "free olives" sometimes to
have a deluxe pizza as she calls it. Brit can have 15 gr. of free lettuce which
helps to make her feel more full. We use the lettuce to make turkey or chicken
wraps. We also have a salami and cream cheese and a bologona and mustard recipe.
They work great for school lunch boxes!!
Have his parents keep talking to the dietician. Most are pretty good about
wanting to make the food so the kids don't totally dislike it.
There is also a program on the internet that helps you calculate meals.
Hospitals don't like you to use it, but I use it and then give it to our
dietician to check and adjust the meals to her liking.
Good luck . . the diet is hard work, but definitely rewarding when it works! -
Tonya
