Melissa, when my granddaughter Ella went on the diet she had six months free of
seizures, she was 4 years old when she started the diet, but before that we
weaned her off all meds, when the seizures came back they were not so severe,
and they did not last so long, she is 8 now and still has seizures, but at least
she does`nt have to put up with side affects from drugs. the seizures she had
before the diet could last up to 3 hours in status, and she would end up in the
hospital. Ella is developmentally delayed because of the lengthy seizures on
meds, with the help of an ABA intervention in her education, she is now at
mainstream school with an assistant, and can say quite a few words, she is also
quite slight for her age. Marie.

My daughter has been on the Keto diet for a few months
now. At first it really looked like the answer to her
seizures.(she went from 15 to 20 seizures a day to 0
to 5 a day in 5 weeks) But now we are starting to see
an increase of seizures. We looked at all the meals
plans, made a change, looked at meds, changed to Milk
of Mag, and now I'm not sure where to go. All her labs
are good. She is on Depakote and its in range. Her
weight is held steady at 44.6 pounds. (she is a little
thing at 10 years old) She is as active as ever,
sleeping well and babbling. So if anyone has any
suggestions please let me know. We have been working
with the doctor and all.
