Hello! I have to admit I am HORRIBLE with being organized as far as the salt &
vitamins go, so I am interested in seeing what others have for input! My Noah is
3 years old and has been on the diet since March - seizure free since starting
it. He has MAE (myoclonic-astatic epilepsy) or Doose Syndrome. He mainly had the
grand mal seizures & then once he was on medication he had the drops and absence
seizures. Now he has been over 3 months seizure-free and doing great on the diet.
I think that is why it is hard for me to remember the vitamins- because he is
doing so well- I forget that seizures were ever around... never thought that
would happen! As for his meals, he has some great meals that are easy to
prepare, so most of the time I am always making them at the time he eats them. I
find this helps with him not demanding food instantly & makes him wait longer
while I prepare it. We are with Children's Memorial in Chicago and our dietician
had a great guideline book full of information
on the diet, as well as recipes, etc.. If you would like me to send you copies,
just give me your address! Wish you the best this time around!

hi--my son is Dylan,we live in connecticut and this is the second
time we are doing the ketogenic diet--Dylan had Myoclonic seizures
and drop seizures the first time we did the diet from ages 2 to 4.5
years old--he stopped the drop seizures and had no myoclonic
seizures for 1.5 years but then the special ed preschool teacher
felt sorry for dylan and she was giving him applesauce at school--he
is now 8.5 years old, has myoclonic seizures still and staring
seizures as well as grand mal seizures now. he only used to grand
mal seizures when he was febrile(with a fever) but now there without
a fever--my problem is I keep feeling like i'm playing catch-up with
making his meals--how do you-all organize your meal preparation and
paperwork so you remember to salt the meal and give vitamins and cal-
mag zinc every day? Thanks for the help--I do know it works because
it eliminated my son's drop seizures--completely---also are any of
your children having trouble retieving the word he or she is trying
to say, or having trouble with balance and if so what have you been
told about it?
