Ok-my brain is going crazy now. I am starting to get confused as to
what types of seizures my daguhter is having. I thought they were
atonic/myclonic/drop attacks. We were told she has LGS, but now I
hear about myoclonic-astatic epilepsy. we were told her eegs is a
mess-misfires from all locations in the brain (most often from the
right temporal location). Also our dr said she has some of
the "meanest" spikes that he has seen.
Here is a description of here seizures and I would appreciate any
thoughts on what types you think they are. They come in clusters
lasting 3-5 mins and the severity varies. Her eyes roll back, and
her mouth moves like she is going to throw up. Her head drops
forward and she looses muscle tome in arms & shoudlers. She always
drops what she is holding, but picks it back up between each "jerk".
Sometimes her arms flinch forward (almost like infantile spasms).
Sometimes if she is sitting in a chair she will loose all muscle
tone and fall staright forward on the floor (like she passed out).
don't worry the only chair she sits in unattended is a foam elmo
chair only a few inches off the floor. Sometimes these "head drops"
are so strong she will hit her haed on the table (we have had a lot
of bruises). SHe never looses consiousness, we can talked to her
during them and she will look at us. The things that are not
consistent with LGS, is that she does, most of the time, know when
they are going to happened (she will go sit ont the coouch, or in
her elmo chair). If we are outside playing she will never have one.
Even if we were out there for 12 hours. I read that with LGS they
should happened anytime, anyplace, anywhere. Instead if we sit her in
her highchair, carseat shopping cart or on the couch sh will almost
alwasy begin to have a cluster. Also a lot of the time we can
distract her and get her to stop the cluster. Sorry so long, but
interested to confirm what she is actually doing???
THanks Keri
