I was thinking about buying one of the kegelmaster 2000. But I went
to my gyn and ask her about the products the aid you in doing kegel
exercises. She said it was a waste of my money to purchased. She said
that I should just do the kegels properly and it has the same effect.
Thank You

I believe spotting is normal since the blood vessels in the vagina are
close to the skin. Make sure you use plenty of lube and you may want to
try to leave the unit open just a very little bit and rotate it before
removing it. I bleed the first time I used it, but found that after I
tried this, I didn't bleed anymore.

Yes, they are incredible.  Make sure you're doing them correctly to really target the right pubococcygeus muscle (and not just the abdominal muscles...)  You can start by starting and stopping your flow while you urinate to locate the muscle.  There should be a good explenation on the internet,
Otherwise I recommend "Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom" by Dr. Northrup
or "Sex for One" by Betty Dodson,
both are good,
good luck, and your orgasmic capacity will increase as your kegel muscles get stronger.

I'm thinking about buying the Kegelmaster 2000. Has anyone tried it?
Is it difficult to use? Is it worth the money or are there better

I'm sure its the pill,
it completely affects your hormones (it is hormones!)
it doesn't mean anything, just get a good natural feminine lubricant and dont be embaressed, you're just taking birth control which alters your bodies response!

Sometimes the pill can cause dryness & can cause problems if you're trying
to use mucous to tell what part of your period your in. Other medications
both prescription and over-the-counter (otc) can cause dryness. The biggest
culprits of these are anti-histamines like Chlortrimaton-- (chlorphenerimine
generic) and Benedryl, tho these aren't the only ones that do this.

You might try something called "Replens" or aloe vera gel to get things a
bit more moist while making love. Aloe vera should be clear or slightly
milky-- like the water in a glass that just had milk in it and wasn't washed
before you put the water in, or slightly yellowish (like eggwhites of raw
eggs).

Kegel exercises can help some too by moving liquid in the vagina around a
bit.

If the dryness continues for some time, or becomes irritating, or you get
other symptoms of a vaginal infection or the symptoms of a urinary tract
infection (uti) then consult your doctor/ health-care provider. You may
have to adjust your medication or change your pill.

I am embarrased to be asking this, but I'm annoyed with the problem
also. I have been having a problem getting wet at all lately when my
boyfriend and I have sex. I have never had this problem, until just
the past 2-3 weeks. I have been on the pill for 2 months, so I don't
know if that could play a part. Sometimes we don't have much fore-
play, but that was still never a problem. I just want to know what
there is I can do. He thinks I'm not intrested, which is not the
case, I just don't know what the problem is.

Hi-- Definitely DON'T have it surgically tightened-- unless there's a REAL
medical reason to do so.

The vaginal muscles can get out of shape with lack of use, but it doesn't
sound like that is the problem here. I'd check with your OB/GYN first, to
make sure that there isn't a medical problem. If that is clear, then the
next would be to make sure your back isn't causing a "front" problem.

One of the more probable medical problems that can cause the vagina to
become lax/ weak is nerve damage or problems. Nerve constriction between
the Thoracic vertebrae (12) (bottom of the back-bones that attach to ribs)
through the 4th Lumbar vertebrae (very low-back) can cause pressure on the
nerves that serve the pc (pubo-coccyxigeal ) and perineum muscles. One of
the questions that might be asked "Are the areas of the perineum-- such as
the rectum/ anus, and urethra --also lax? Some of these areas? or none of
these areas? Is there any back pain (at any time, not just during sex)? And
Is there any constipation?" Constipation would indicate that the colon
wasn't doing it's job because it too was lax. The anus and urethra are both
controlled by the same back-nerve-cluster as the vagina. In other words--
if the part of the back that controls the vagina is damaged/ compressed,
then there may be laxness in other areas also controlled by nerves coming
from the same set of vertebrae. So if the OB/GYN exam doesn't show anything
out of the ordinary, you might consider a chiropractic evaluation. Another
indicator of nerve involvement from the back would be if there was pain in
the sacrum/coccyx (tail bone) area when you do your Kegals or have sex-- and
the muscles contract with orgasm.?
LIN (WHITEFEATHER)

Looking at the exercises themselves--
The first 1) exercise is, as you mentioned, to start and stop your urine
flow.
2) is to start and stop your stool (bowl-movement) while going.
3) is to constrict and relax the vaginal muscles
4) is to start with tightening the urethra, then the vagina, then the anus
(in order) and relax in reverse.
5) do the reverse of #4, by tightening the anus, then the vagina, then the
urethra and relaxing in the opposite order.
6)There are three levels of muscles in the vagina and pelvic region. The
next exercise is to lightly tighten all of the muscles you've already worked
on a little, then a medium amount, the really tighten them-- like an
elevator going up to different floors-- 1st floor is light, 2nd is medium
and 3rd is hard contractions. then relax in reverse order.

ABDOMINAL MUSCLES:
since your body isn't isolated parts-- the pelvic and abdominal muscles work
together to perform many functions. Yes, weak abdominal muscles can affect
the pelvic muscles, but more by the fact that if you're not working one set,
tbe other set probably isn't getting worked out ether. Callenetics-- by
Callen Pinkney-- is great for increasing abdominal strength and encouraging
the energy to flow into the lower pelvic area. Some of her exercises also
work the pelvic muscles-- but they're in groups with other abdominal
muscles. I've found that the exercises produce excellent waist reduction
and increase sexual energy & strength.

Equipment like the Kegel 2000 & the pelviciser are great for isolating the
appropriate muscles, but they are cumbersome to carry with you or fit into a
busy schedule. the BASIC Kegel exercises-- as stated above-- can be done
anywhere/ anytime and nobody knows that you're doing them-- and it keeps you
from being bored in those same situations too! This makes them a more
effective use of time as well!

KEGELS FOR MEN:
Men have additional/ different exercises since they have a penis instead of
a vagina. There exercise involves moving the penis up and down, by the
muscles alone. This requires that the penis be erect. Additional weight
can be added to the penis to strengthen this muscle by using a towel over
the penis (AFTER YOU'VE MASTERED MOVING IT!)

According to Dr. Marc Bonnard, M.D. Author of "The Viagra Alternative" Kegal
exercises can be very effective in treating erectile dysfunction in men.
Here's his recommendation for doing the Kegal exercises:

"The basic technique is to repeatedly contract and relax the muscles in the
pelvis that control urination. Practice holding for 10 seconds then
releasing. A set consists of 5 to 8 repetitions. You can easily and
conveniently complete several sets during the day (for example standing in
line at the bank or waiting in traffic).

When performed regularly, Kegals can help you tone these all important
muscles. In a study in 1993, men with ED due to leaking veins found Kegal
exercises almost as effective as surgery in restoring erections. 42% of the
patients who completed the training program were satisfied with the outcome
and refused surgery.

The variation on the Kegal exercise requires an erection. With the penis
erect, stand up and place a towel over the penis. Try to lift it a dozen
times or in succession by contracting and releasing the sphincter muscle."

well, you could try the kegelmaster 2000. i bought it last year
over the internet and it seems to isolate those particular muscles.
trouble is, fitting it into a busy schedule i find.

maybe you could talk to your doctor also. i think you can even
getting surgically tightened, but not sure if you'd want to do that.
but they could also suggest if they thought there was any other
problem that it could be??

i'm not an expert, but from what i've read:

yes, your pc muscles get out of shape due to lack of use.
not sure re ab muscles affecting it - wouldn't think so though as they're
different muscles.
not sure re how long partner will notice difference - as i haven't had partner
whilst doing kegels.
i do think kegels work, as it is like any other muscle in your body really.
not sure re age affecting things, but i think things like childbirth etc can.
not sure about what happens if partner has a curve.
i ordered a kegelmaster 2000 last year and have been using that, but have been a
bit slack lately. it's just another chore to try and fit into an otherwise busy
day! also if you look up that stuff on the internet, there is a lot of
information about it.

hope this helps a bit??

At http://www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/319/7225/1596
you can view MRI images of sexual intercourse performed in the
Netherlands along with the scientific commentary.

This is the (in)famous penis=boomerang study, but IMHO that's the
least interesting part of it.

For me the most interesting part of the paper was the following
discussion relating to the filling of the women's bladder during
intercourse:

"Changes during sexual arousal Magnetic resonance imaging showed
strikingly that during female sexual arousal changes occurred in the
anterior vaginal wall. These changes took place in the vaginal wall
itself (the engorgement as such is not visible on the images),
through the raising of the uterus, displacement of the uterus caused
by penetration of the penis, and through gradual filling of the
bladder. Histological studies 11 12 and immunohistochemistry13 have
shown that the anterior wall of the vagina has denser innervation
than the posterior wall. This is supported by clinical studies 14 15
and research into vaginal sensitivity to electric stimuli16 in which
the anterior vaginal wallwith the urethra behind itwas found to be
relatively sensitive. Hoch's concept of a clitoral-vaginal sensory
arm of the orgasmic reflex refers specifically to the anterior
vaginal wall and the deeper tissuesthe urinary bladder, the
periurethral tissues, and Halban's fascia15and our images support
this."

Best,

Zeno

Hoch's concept of a clitoral-vaginal sensory
arm of the orgasmic reflex refers specifically to the anterior
vaginal wall and the deeper tissuesthe urinary bladder, the
periurethral tissues, and Halban's fascia15and our images support
this."
