For all the years Karen's Kitchen has been up, folks have always had to
listen to me give glowing reports about the weather here. Well, just to
cheer some of you up, it is predicted that it will SNOW here tonight in our
local 6,000 ft. moutain range! Thought you would enjoy the irony of this...
Much is going on in Karen's Kitchen this month, and I am really excited.
Please take the time to check out all the new recipes, menus, pictures and
don't forget--if you are going on vacation, August in San Diego is GREAT
(no snow?). Come to the Convention and see San Diego with a native--ME!

It too a little while to get them all gathered together and then to try to

You just won't find a nicer way to visit San Diego. Registration is
limited to SIX PEOPLE (unless you beg me and we arrange a second
vehicle...). Fly into beautiful San Diego and see all the highlights with
me as your personal epicurian and sightseeing guide. This is my hometown,
so see it with a native!

It's STRAWBERRY SEASON! To make use of all this short term bounty, I did
an entire DAY'S worth of menus with each one based on the berries. Hope

As I am sitting here in my sweater and boots on June 3, I shake my head a
bit. The end of this month marks 3 years that Karen's Kitchen has been
online. I know how much it means to many of you, and I just want to state
my commitment to providing you recipes, news, information, products and
ENCOURAGEMENT to continue with these healthy lifestyle changes that you
have made.
My sister Janet, an "aware" but non-Zoning employee of mine, was surprised
the other day when she went to lunch with 3 of our "skinny" friends. "They
just did not eat that much food..." she rather marveled at. When we see
giant burgers, giant salads, giant muffins, giant servings wherever we go,
it is hard to think in terms of reasonable amounts of food. Issues of
deprivation will pop up often simply because of the way food is presented
to us by current advertising and food companies. How are YOU dealing with
it?
I have been looking at my food with a more critical eye. Do you ever think
to just cut whatever portions you are served right in HALF??? I keep
telling myself before walking into a restaurant "TWO MEALS--I'm buying TWO
MEALS!" just to remind myself that I don't really even need HALF of the
portions are that they are giving to me.
Whatever works for you, I hope you take the time to join up with our
Discussion List and tell us what works for YOU! And if it ISN'T working,
tell us about it, and let us help you figure out WHY.
