Hello fellow skippers!
I was wondering, building on what Erica said, would anyone like to
see a standard rope for both National and International competition, once
everything begins to fall into place for this sport? I realize that there
would be disadvantages if we were to standardize ropes now, because of the
constant variations in our ropes that will soon build up to the "ultimate
rope." Say right now the official ropes would be Cindy Joy's wire ropes
(with regular handles), would anyone disagree with that? The rope itself is
only a tool, the jumper is the one that really manipulates where it
goes...but would you like to be aided even more with long-handled ropes? As
long as they are not permitted by regulations they are all right to use, so
why not?
The judging would be much harder if we judged on the rope each jumper
used and it's not really equal if everyone is using a different style rope.
I do think though, that the scoring would be completely altered if we had a
system like this and the outcomes would be favoring those with the "cheater
ropes."
How about this, since Erica requested the names of the silent members
of this list, why don't we have the list members that would not mind having
their names posted send a brief e-mail to me simply saying: "You may post my
name." You can write more if you wish, such as background information on
your team or how you got involved with jump rope, if you would like that
posted to the list as well. Or, if you'd like, you can simply post to the
list yourself, either way is fine!
Thanks again for sticking with the list=)
Please feel free to ask any questions...

P.S. I'm the only person that has taken the survey, there's 28 people on the
list...there's got to be someone out there that will take it besides me!
