Hi everybody!!! My name is Jessica. I'm a 5 year jumper in San Antonio
Texas with the Spring Hawks.(My coach is Russell Chavez if you know him, he
does get around.) I wanted to get everybody's opinion on the AAU junior
olympics and USA jump rope Nationals. I'm facing a huge dilemma. For the
last three years, I've attended and competed at Nationals. This year my
team and I have decided that we'd like to go to the AAU competition. We've
never done that before and since we're moving into high school, we're not
quite sure if everyone will stay with the sport(I hope everyone does!!!).
Our coach said that he will support any decision we decide to make, but also
told us that he would be disappointed if we went to AAU. He thinks we are
wasting our last year in the 12-14 age group by going to AAU, since it is
easier to make. He says that we are at the top of our age group, and that
he would love to see us go to Nationals one more time. I feel like I'm
writing a Dear Abby letter, but what do ya'll think? I still want to go to
AAU, I haven't done that yet, plus it is about half the cost. So if anybody
has an opinion that they'd like to share, I would be much obliged. Also, I
have one more question. Do any if you use wire double dutch ropes? If so,
what are they like? Our team is stuck on 270 for DD Relay Speed, and can't
seem to be able to turn the cloth ropes that fast. Do you recommend them???
Well, I hope every body decides to continue the list, I think it is great.
Maybe if we could get more people interested...
