=============================
Last summer I ended my holidays in Denmark. Yes. I was so lucky to go to
Denmark.
Lucky because I got to see the facility for next years Championships and
Camp.
AND I AM THRILLED !!!!
The facility is great:
Housing will be in 2 to 4 persons bedrooms in three seperate buildings on
the premaciss.
Within these buildings there are sufficient recreational possibilities in
case of bad wheater or in case skippers, coaches or ?? would like to get
together.
I'm not sure weather or not you should bring your own sleepingbag; if I
remeber correctely you DON'T, since the sleepingfacility is like a hotel!!
Championships en Camp will take place in two halls. Each 40 x 20 metres and
airconditioned!! For Camp also a third 'hall' (the Oval) can be used. The
floors in the halls are Junkers (wooden) sportsfloors. All three halls have
great music-capabilities.
The food will be served in three different rooms, which are located next to
eachother, with a total capacity of 332 people. But in front of these rooms,
there are 12 4-person tables and outside on the balcony there are 9 4-person
tables positioned. I was fortunate to be offered to stay for diner and it
was supurb. In the afternoon I already saw a group of +/- 200 people beeing
served with lunch: it will be as good as (or perhaps better than) Amsterdam
:-)
Around the buildings, which are located withing 5 minutes walking of
eachother and on the same premacess, an athleticstrack with all
athletics-events is located. But all kind of other activities are on the
facility: soccerfields, beachvolleyballl, discgolf, chess and adventure-run
are some of the extra's this facility offers all participants without
additional costs.
All the buildings, some are 4 floors up, are integrated in the nature and
only been seen when faced frontally.
At 10 minutes walking downhill (!!) you can enjoy the Danish see. This see
can be seen (of course) from a large number of points at the facility.
A number of other pleasant places are offered within the facility, but I
don't want to give everything away yet.
The facility has it's own Internet-address at: http://www.fuglsocentret.dk
Take a look at it and get your own image of what is offered. Right now this
site is only in Danish. But I was promissed a special English site for Rope
Skippers, Coaches and other interested people.
In October, the ERSO-Steering-Committy has it's meeting at the facility. A
digital camera will be one of the things taken with them. A footage will be
presented short after!!
Of course not everything is positive.
The whole facility is located somewhere in the middle of nowhere!!!
This means for instance: you can't leave for a shop to buy your bottle of
coca-cola or to buy your souvenirs. Denmark is NOT a cheap country, like
Hungary was to most of us. And extra's offered at the facility will be
offered at commercial Danish rates.
This also means that the camp will be a very intimate camp, since you can
just walk or take the bus or tram into town!! This can be both negative, as
well as positive.
Might you be thinking I was offered a part of the participants fee or a free
stay during championships and camp...... WRONG!!! I just happened to be
there and got very excited and wanted to share this with you all. I think it
would be stupid to skipp this EC or camp. And when you start saving US$ 40,-
a month the participation fee for both championships and camp won't be a
poblem before June 1st 2000.
Questions...... Remarks...... ????....... Just E-mail me :-)
