Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant.
I CURED my severe condition of ulcerative colitis over 25 years
ago with a vitamin E enema you prepare yourself and diet.No
other
medication. No problems since. Results within one week. The correct
diet of fiber binds the stool, provides the proper environment for
the growth of good bacteria and removes the constant colon
irritation produced by wrong food choices which gives the open
sores a chance to heal. The vitamin E enema works with the body
immune system to heal the colon wall.

The enemas are made from the vitamin E you buy in a drugstore.

Patients with refractory Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis
respond to dehydroepiandrosterone: a pilot study.

Andus T, Klebl F, Rogler G, Bregenzer N, Scholmerich J, Straub RH.

Department of Internal Medicine I, University of Regensburg,
Regensburg, Germany. TAndus@...

BACKGROUND: Dehydroepiandrosterone is a steroid hormone used as
an 'over-the-counter' drug in the USA. Treatment with
dehydroepiandrosterone was effective in randomized controlled trials
in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. Dehydroepiandrosterone
sulphate concentrations are decreased in patients with inflammatory
bowel disease. Dehydroepiandrosterone inhibits nuclear factor-kappaB
and the secretion of interleukin-6 and interleukin-12 via the
peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha. AIM: A phase II
pilot trial was started to evaluate the effect of
dehydroepiandrosterone in active inflammatory bowel disease. METHODS:
Twenty patients with chronic active inflammatory bowel disease [seven
Crohn's disease (Crohn's disease activity index, 242 +/- 51; mean +/-
s.d.); 13 ulcerative colitis (clinical activity index, 7.8 +/- 2.1)]
took 200 mg dehydroepiandrosterone per day orally for 56 days.
RESULTS: Six of the seven patients with Crohn's disease and eight of
the 13 patients with ulcerative colitis responded to treatment, with
a decrease in the Crohn's disease activity index of > 70 points and a
decrease in the clinical activity index of > 4 points, respectively.
Six Crohn's disease patients and six ulcerative colitis patients went
into remission (Crohn's disease activity index < 150; clinical
activity index <or= 4). No patient withdrew from the study because of
side-effects. CONCLUSIONS: In a pilot study, dehydroepiandrosterone
was effective and safe in patients with refractory Crohn's disease or
ulcerative colitis. Adjustment of the dehydroepiandrosterone dosage
may further improve the treatment success.

Hi Everyone,

orry for the general e-mail but at least this way I know I haven't forgotten anyone :)

My doctor has ordered a CT scan of the stomach to check if I have an abscess, as well as having to do a gastroscopy. All this is scheduled for next week. He started to lower the steroids, as do need to get off them asap. In any case, they are not even helping me now. I still believe in positive thinking.

Sick or not, I'm working this evening from home.

Take care,

Love
Sarah

Hello Everyone,

As promised yesterday in certain of my posts on the lists, here is finally an update from me and it's not good (sad to say)!!!

I had my 4th remicade infusion on Monday and managed to get my prednisone down to 13mg, but the week before my infusion I wasn't feeling good. So my doctor told me to increase it to 15mg. On Tuesday, I was hit with agonising pain with vomiting and bowel movements together (now - doesn't that sound like fun). So I spoke to my GI on Wednesday and he told me to come and see him on Thursday.

I AM NOW BACK UP TO 30MG PREDNISONE!!!

And I was told that I have a build up of scar tissue and intestinal stenosis.
If I am not wrong, this is from the remicade. Can someone on the remicade list tell me if I am right?

I now have to be in touch with my GI every 5 days (Galit - isn't that fun!!! - since he is never there when I call).

I am feeling no better and everything is still the same. Terrible pain, vomiting, nausea, plenty of bowel movements. I am so ready for surgery, but I think my GI is against surgery.

Galit - when did you have surgery? Did it help you?

Love,
Sarah

Please pass this on to every Jewish person you know and ask them to pass it  on to every Jewish person they know and on and on until it encircles the globe and perhaps comes back to you.

Ed Koch was the outspoken mayor of New York City for twelve years.  He never minced words.  The following is to be his New Year Commentary prepared for Bloomberg Radio (which, coincidentally, is owned by the current mayor).
Koch's 2003 resolutions are worth heeding - perhaps even following ourselves.

This is a sobering yet in a way optimistic analysis by one of our own "elder statesmen."

We are now going through the most virulent anti-Semitic period since Hitler and Stalin.  Nearly 60 years after the end of World War II almost every country on the European continent, including England, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium and the Scandinavian countries, has seen major outbreaks
of physical violence against their Jewish citizens, and against Jewish institutions, including synagogues and cemeteries.  At the same time, open hostility toward the State of Israel is at an all-time high.

Only in the United States have we seen a full acceptance of Jews as citizens and the Jewish State treated as a friend and ally by an overwhelming number of fellow citizens.  In the U.S., Jews have been permitted to rise and fall based on their individual talents, virtues and faults.  In one elite
bastion after another, Jews have been selected to head institutions heretofore seen as beyond their reach.

Today the presidents of Harvard and Yale Universities are Jews, as are recent former presidents of Columbia and Princeton. Having been elected three times as mayor of the City of New York, I have been the beneficiary of this
country's generosity and freedom from bigotry, and I will be eternally grateful. Americans traditionally make New Year's resolutions.  Before I list my own resolutions, I want to thank President George W. Bush and his advisers, Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of State Colin Powell and National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice for their support of the State of Israel.  They could easily have jettisoned Israel as a liability in their efforts to forge an international coalition against worldwide terrorism.  I will be forever grateful to them, and I hope that many other supporters of the State of Israel will recognize and appreciate what they have done.

Fortunately for Jews and the State of Israel, American support of the Jewish nation has been bipartisan.  Particularly helpful has been the Democratic leadership in both houses including Senator Tom Daschle, outgoing Minority Leader Dick Gephardt, as well as former President Bill Clinton and Senator
Hillary Clinton.  There are many others on both sides of the political aisle who deserve similar praise.

In the religious sector, I am grateful to the Reverends Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, both of whom have stood up time and again in support and defense of the Jewish nation.  Regrettably, there have been many clergy who have unfairly attacked Israel for attempting to defend itself against
near-daily terrorist acts against its citizens.  We were made privy to the true thoughts of Rev. Billy Graham caught on tape telling President Nixon his real feelings about Jews and Israel.  He has since apologized, but what is an apology without contrition and efforts to right the wrong done?  Worthless.

Now to my personal New Year's resolutions.

I will avoid France as a place to vacation.  France leads those countries in the Security Council who are the enemies of the State of Israel.  So too is Mexico, joining as a consistent supporter of resolutions unfairly denouncing Israel at the U.N.  Security Council.

I will not support National Public Radio in any way. NPR's reporters and management delight in unfairly attacking Israel.  I will no longer lend financial support to New York's Channel Thirteen public television station.  That station recently showed a documentary that was blatantly biased against Israel and has refused to acknowledge the bias or to try to correct it.

I will not watch ABC's World News Tonight anchored by Peter Jennings..  For many years, Jennings has specialized in vicious and unfair portrayals of Israel intended to injure the Jewish state and lionize Palestinians.  BBC News is horrifically anti-Israel and I will shun it completely.  Susan Sontag will occupy the Ninth Circle of Hell for her outrageous assaults on Israel.  I will no longer read her works.  Regrettably, there are many others whom I could include on this list, but I will leave that for another day.  I must confess I got enormous pleasure from the defeat of Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney and her father in the recent primary elections in Georgia.  In my view, both are anti-Semitic and anti-Israel.  No longer able to feed at the public trough, I doubt that either will make a comparable living in the private sector.

I must close now to get ready for my Chanukah and Christmas shopping.  I enjoy celebrating those holidays with Jewish and Christian friends whose goodwill and affection I will always cherish.

We can never know the results of our actions on the future of the world. However, if you forward this message to friends of the Jewish Nation, with the wish that they do the same, then perhaps, in some small way, it will eventually make a difference. What is certain, however, is that if you do nothing, nothing can happen

Has anyone tried Bach Flower Remedies?

Hello,

My appointment at the doctor was more than I bargaind for. He increased my
steroids again and then sent me to the Emergency Room where I waited 3 hours
He thinks I might have a gynaecological problem as well, but the ultrasound
they gave me came back ok, no cysts were shown. I need to now see a
gynaecologist... he thinks I might have pelvic inflammatory disease.

The nausea and vomiting are the side effects from remicade and he is not
sure if I will get the 2nd treatment or not. He will decide later this week.

All the best

Hello,

I could not believe that they did not premedicate me. I have to ask why are
people all over the world premedicated except here in Israel?

My next infusion is on February 13.

I have some joint pain, nausea, headache but I guess that is to be expected.
I'm also terribly jumpy since the infusion

They said I could have a reaction during the 2nd infusion. Were they trying
to freak me out or what??

Thanks for everything.
