Approximately, 1.5 million persons in the United States are affected by iron overload diseases, which are primarily caused by hereditary hemochromatosis--the most common genetic disorder in the United States.
Symptoms can include all or any of the following: chronic fatigue; arthritis/joint pain/joint replacement; poor immune system; loss of hair; feeling "cold" all the time; diabetes; infertility/impotence; heart disease/young heart attack; fibromyalgia; elevated liver enzymes/liver cirrhosis/liver cancer.
