Deep Tissue Massage II (Extremities)
9am-6pm, 16 hours, $185.00
This class will work with an eclectic blend of deep tissue massage
therapy techniques. We will work with deep tissue lubricants and
lowered massage tables. We will teach positioning and specific strokes
in prone, supine ,and side lying position. We will explore the arms,
hands, feet and legs. We will work with the shoulder, hip, and spine
briefly exploring the relationship between postural distortions and
chronic pain. These strokes are great for reaching those chronic areas
on your clients. We will cover repetitive stress injuries, such as
carpal tunnel syndrome, iliotibial band syndrome, and plantar
fasciitis. The class will be taught stroke by stroke, naming the
musculature. We will explore indications and contraindications. Body
Mechanix coaching is an integral part of this workshop.

East West Bodywork
9am-6pm, 32hours, $375.00
This is the signature style of the East West Massage School. This class
blends the western styles of deep tissue massage with the pressure
points of Shiatsu and stretches of Thai Massage. A general sequence for
the entire body will be taught. Western Swedish massage is promoted for
relaxation. This frequently leaves the client with a superficial
feeling of relaxation and the deeper layers of their body yearning for
attention. The incidence of repetitive stress injuries for therapists
is very high. The Asian bodywork styles are the manual component of
their traditional medicine. They are often very deep and painful to
western consumers of massage therapy, leaving them feeling overworked
and eliciting detoxification symptoms. Asian massage is traditionally
floor based bodywork, often difficult for therapists with knee or ankle
limitations. East West Bodywork is a table-based form that uses
compression to release deep tension and pain , gentle stretches to
lengthen muscles, and western oil based strokes to flush congested
tissues. In this workshop you will learn a well choreographed and
integrated sequence.

Shiatsu
9am-6pm, 16 hours, $185.00
Shiatsu is the healing bodywork from Japan. It is a contemporary form
of healing that has its roots in ancient China. Shiatsu literally means
finger pressure. Students will be introduced to meridian theory and the
tsubo (Japanese name for the acupressure point), A general shiatsu
sequence for the entire body will be taught. The class will be taught
using traditional floor based bodywork mats.

Shiatsu on the Massage Table
9am-6pm, 16 hours, $185.00
Shiatsu is traditionally done on floor based bodywork mats. It can
easily be performed on a massage table. Students will be introduced to
meridian theory, the tsubo ( Japanese name for the acupressure point),
and a general shiatsu sequence for the entire body. The class will be
taught using the massage table, enabling students to blend the sequence
into any bodywork modality.
