Re: Measuring Subtle Energies

hi bhaskar,
glad to have your contribution. your fetus experience is
interesting, but difficult to judge exactly what went on without
verification. maybe you're right about science being able to measure
and record prana one day. though i do wonder where the money will
come from to fund the research. drugs research has both government
and multinational drug company billions behind it. what does yoga /
thai massage have?

re: verifying through feelings and experience, i have mixed feelings
about this. i think that if it works, use it, but that judging why
it works is something else.

you talk of being able to "feel (prana) ... flow through us and out
of us and into us". however, my take on that would be to say that
these "feelings" are subjective interpretations of sensory stimuli
rather than facts. in other words, you feel something, and then you
make a judgement / attach a meaning to it. and we all know that the
brain wrongly interpret stimuli all the time; a stick in a glass of
water looks bent, something far away looks smaller and so on.
therefore, what you interpret as prana may indeed be prana, but it
may be something else entirely.

just my take :)

dan

ps, i see from your website that you've also studied shiatsu. i'm
interested to know how you feel that the two arts compare / blend.
would you say that thai massage is basically shiatsu with more
stretching? i've heard that some shiatsu practitioners now integrate
thai stretches into their sessions
