Hi Tim, I was reading Doreen Virtue's website this morning, spookily
enough!

I saw the film 'The Secret' the other day, and I have to say I was a
bit disappointed! It's not really a film, more a documentary with a
little bit of flashy stuff as scene breaks! We see Esther Hicks, Joe
Vitale and others talking about the Law of Attraction - not very
exciting though of course the information is good stuff. Ah well,
it's made me think about the idea of there being a 'secret' (The
Celestine Prophecy, soon out as a film, features ancient scrolls
hidden in the jungle!) The point is, the Law of Attraction isonly a
secret if you're not observing yourself and seeing patterns in your
life; it's not hidden, and it's not 'ancient', which assumes there
was a time it didn't exist! The Law of Attraction is just a law
that's always been operating. We don't call gravity an ancient law,
do we? That kind of mystique and excitement is all very well, and
enjoyable, but it really serves to separate us from the present
reality, which is where we're creating our future experiences, after
all.

So my little bit of wisdom is that we need to learn the way it feels
to 1. ask for something - a heartfelt asking, from deep inside, with
all our attention focused on whatever it is we want - and not to
reach out anywhere to try and 'get' it. Then 2. immediately let go,
because we KNOW we've been heard, and look forward to getting it; pay
attention to whatever we feel like doing, in the complete confidence
that we've already been answered. That seems to be the
emotional/energetic process I've found to be successful, anyway. I
was watching the DVD 'Perceiving Energy' and Alain said several times
to people - 'don't reach out, let it come to you'. He was talking
about receiving energy impressions, and that process of staying
still, within yourself, and asking and allowing the answer to come
immediately, seemed to be very significant. All we ever need is
information - and we all have the entire universe of energy and
information available to us! So maybe try asking for what you want
in a more heartfelt, focused and confident way - and practice the
gratitude of receiving before it's actually turned up!

These are just my thoughts from the experience of being disappointed
in The Secret, because I was hoping it would tell me something I
didn't know - but receiving Alain's DVD to watch seemed to be
synchronicity at work! I'm doing this process now, so will let you
know what happens.
