Hi Sarah, you are so not alone - my heart goes out to you. I was stung on August 8th 2003 just 3 days after you!
I and the others on this group know exactly how you are feeling and are very familiar with the fear you are living with. You are right that most folks cannot understand what this is all about and how it affects those that live with it. I know that there are people who are thinking 'what a silly fuss' when I am talking about my experience and living with anaphylaxis. There are times when I get so stressed about it all, I feel defeated and so very sad, I am trying to be positive but the future is such an unknown that I find it hard.
I too love the outdoors and one of my best loved hobbies happens outside and is at it's most intense in the summer months when I can be out for 12 hours stretches. After I got stung I gave it up but I have recently returned to it - I will not be beaten........... well, not until summer anyway :o)
It is looking very much like I won't be able to have the desensitisation due to another condition that I have. I have a severe allergy and was really banking on the treatment. I am still coming to terms with all of this and frequently 'breakdown' but I know that ultimately I am just going to have to find a way to live with it, as we all are.
We're with you every step of the way. Take care.
Annie :o)
