Re: [insectstings] Richard is starting desensitization!

Good to hear you are on your way Richard.  Sometimes it seems to be a long road but the alternative isn't an option for me.

It's been 19 weeks since my anaphylactic episode. I get my venom shots every other week.  I started out big, but had a bad reaction at the 3rd series. They cut me way back. Then after several small doses they have started to up the dose a little. My last shot was on 29th of December.  It put me at 70 % of one sting. I am trying to be able to get to two by spring. I think one of the reasons I have been able to tolerate more is that after the bad reaction my doctor told me to stop doing anything on the day of the shot.  Just ice, anti-histamine and rest.  It is supposed to let the venom absorb more slowly. Has anyone else had to do that ? Now, after  each shot, I get a little less swelling.  My reaction is now staying in just my upper arm.  Until last time, it always consumed my entire arm.  What kind of reaction do you all get from your injections ?

What type of weather do you have where you are? I would be interested in knowing.  I live in Ohio and with the weather finally freezing most of the time, (2 degrees F today), I haven't seen one in a while. I do worry about when we get a freak 50 or 60 degree day.  Do the queens come out then? Stay brave Richard . (and watch those pub walls !)

Good luck to all

Debbie
