Re: [insectstings] Immunotherapy issues

Good news! You always should have a voice when it comes to your own care. I congratulate you for fighting for YOU.
Good luck with the Immunotherapy.
Doug

Today I went to the Allergist. She wanted to stop the shots but, I
talked her out of it. She said that with the reactions (flu like)
after the first 3 shots, then the systemic reaction on shot #4 and
not even being on maintainence, she normally would stop the therapy!
I begged to be restarted and now I'm to take Zantac, Zyrtic(sic), and
benadryl starting 24 hours prior to my shot. I will be starting over
with .1cc at 3 ug/ml and instead of jumping from .2cc to .4, I will
now go .1, .2, .3, then .4cc I honestly don't care as long as I get
the shots! I know in my heart, if I don't become more sensitive, get
up to maintainence, I will be fine!

David, thank you for telling us about your reactions. Had you not
written about it, I would have thought that I had no choice but to
accept it when the Doctor suggested stopping the immunotherapy! !

I never thought I would beg a Doctor to give me needles for 3-5 years
but, my independence depends on it. I have taken active steps in
maintaining my independence by getting a MediAlert, Life Line, and my
immunotherapy shots. Living alone, out in the country, having an
allergy like this is disabling and I REFUSE to allow those buggers to
keep me a prisoner in my own home!
