We're in week 6 of the weekly shots and all is still going well (I
think that puts us at about 1/100th - 1/50th of a maintenance dose).
The needles, once so feared, barely faze my son at all now provided
he has ice – but not ice the in way you'd think. He holds the ice in
his hand opposite of the arm he gets the needle. The distraction has
two benefits I've observed:

1) It gives him something to think about other than the needle, and

2) The arm he gets the needle in is so relaxed because he's not
thinking about the needle (he used to tense up and cringe as he was
getting a needle).

I remember several stories about people trying to be calm and relaxed
while getting the needle. Try the ice in the opposite hand thing and
let me know if it helps.

Also a question...

If you have a fever or a cold do you skip your shots? I'll talk to
the Doc if it's still an issue come shot time, I was just wondering
what others generally do when they're not feeling well.

Dave
