Hi y'all:
Two years ago this July I was stung once in the arm and had an
allegic reaction. My heart started to pund and I felt dizzy. I felt
hot. I was swating and drooling a bit. I laid down and took some
Benadryl. The MD's were called and monitored me for about 20
minutes. After that I recovered and was fine.
One year ago this July I was stung again and the same thing ahppened,
only this time I vomited. The MD's came again, only this time the
reaction didn't last as long. Neither this or the last time I was
stung, was my breathing effected.
Six months ago I started Immonotherapy (I am a level 4 - which is
highly allergic to all 5 bee types). The immonotherapy was going
well - I had been in the buildup phase for 6 weeks, then I missed two
and a half weeks, went in and got my shot. 5 Minutes later I felt
flush and warm, so I told them I didn't feel well. They gave me
60mgs of Prednisone and some liquid benadryl and wanted to give me
Epi, but i told them no. I felt fine after about 30 minutes and
left. This was at about 2:00pm. At about 7:00PM my heart started to
race (keep in mind I had a few beers at this point and was playing a
video game as well) to 120BPM. My heart was pounding. I went to the
hospital and they monitored me for 4 hours in the monitoring room.
They gave me some Benadryl in an IV at the 5th hour and told me I had
a "rebound reaction" -- however, the allergist told me it couldn't
have been that. They think I had a panic attack.
After all this happened - I started having panic attacks almost daily
for three months. Then the daily attacks subsided and I was getting
only night time panic attacks. Now I get them about once per week.
So maybe I did in fact have a panic attack?
Anyway - i am afraid to go back to immonotherapy, but my Doctor
thinks it is imperative that i go back.
Comments?
Thanks,
Mike
