<laugh> I got stung nearly every year while in NJ, but the stings that
sent me to the emergency room were due to the fact that I was standing
on a yellow jacket nest. In fact, I'm surprised I only got two
stings. However, it was after dark, so that might have helped me.

With apologies to the singer Kenny Rogers... Anyway, the advice with wasps and hornets and yellowjackets, is that if you are stung, you should get out of there...

Hi Cathy, My understanding is the same as yours - if a wasp stings it sends out a signal to attack - I got chased through my house by a swarm banging dodoors...

Hi Cathy, Furthering our wasp nest theory - could it be that the wasps that guard the nest have more venom than the ones we see flying around? I have no idea...
