another thought - couldnt this be just like having an allergy to progesterone or ATAs or anything else? My immune system attacks the iodine as an invader just like it attacks EVERYTHING ELSE?!?!

YAY!! Just what I needed - another project..... ......... ...... lol It may be I had the reaction just from the huge amount of iodine required - IV and the drink - to get the contrast.

connections, connections. it's all about putting pieces together. very interesting if you have this issue. you may have to get familiar with different kinds of iodine and what your body can handle. Lugols may not be an option for you. There are other kinds, like iodine trichloride - not as popular in the thyroid community, but an option nonetheless. Perhaps you should check out the thyroid board here on Yahoo?
I had a couple of hives on my face. They kept me for 2 hours to observe. No other reactions... I do eat salt obviously, but I also get unexplained hives now and then... could it be?!?! an explanation? hmmmmm. I am going to find out what they used for the scan. THANKS KELLY!!

hmmmm. not good. I would want to know what kind of iodine was used in the scan. There are SEVERAL kinds of iodine. For instance - do you have any trouble with iodized salt? My guess is no. What kind of reaction did you have?
be careful - I only know enough to be dangerous . . .
