Welcome Teri to the group and yes it certainly does help to chat with
others having the same issues. I have an Ileostomy from UC performed
back in 1965, as in any change to the body I've had some speed bumps to
handle but all has gone quite well as I'm now 58. Family support is
fantastic and a must. As for Crohns' my son has the same problem and too
takes Remicade every 7 - 8 weeks. We live in Normal, IL and have been
luckily to have some very good GI's available. However in our sons case
our home town doctor sent him to the University of Chicago Hospital, as
his condition became very serious. Also having temporary ostomy surgery
with reconnection, he now returns to Chicago (150 miles) for his
infusion. He does quite well and the only thing he watches for is a drop
in energy, which signals a trip north is due. Of course there are
certain foods he does avoid.
Well just wanted to say hi and wish you and your family the very best.
