I personally think it goes in waves. There are times I do not notice my bag and
other times when it itches like crazy. Mine seems to itch about a day after
changing for some reason. For instance, I changed mine last night and it itches
around the edges this morning. I am not worried about it unless it doesnt stop.
Then it could indicate a problem. Mainly getting a yeast infection. Damp, dark
conditions are a great growing area. To avoid this I will make sure my wafer
gets dry after a shower. A quick easy way to do this is to use a blow dryer on
a low setting over your bag for a few minutes after you shower and dry off. I
have found that to be the quickest and most efficent way to handle it.

How long does it take your skin to get used to having a pouch stuck to it?
My surgery isn't until the 13th, but my ostomy nurse gave me a pouch to wear
just to "get used to it". Well, I was fine for about 42 hours in fact alot of
time I forgot I had it on, until after I took a shower and then it began to itch
around the wafer. There doesn't appear to be any rash. I imagine it's
something I'll have to get used to.
Thanks,
Tim
