Re: rectal discharge   Message List

Does he have any rectum left? When I had my operation, they left some sigmoid
colon and my rectum in place. I get mucus stools from it from time to time (I
call them mu-poo!). If it is getting really bad, you culd ask for a prescription
of Predsol or Predfoam. I had topical steroids when my mu-poo was frequent and
bloody, and it cleared it up within about 10 days.

If any bowel has been left in, it is normal for a little mucus to be produced,
but not for it to be painful. I would recommend that his doctor have a look-
there are meds to help it if this is the case.

Can anyone help us?
My future husband has an ileostomy.
He is having severe pain from his rectum, and having a discharge
almost like a painful bowel movement 5 or 6 times during the day and
night (uncontrolable). This has been going on for 3 weeks now. He
has had a perminent ileostomy for 4 years. How can this be
happening? Has anyone ever experienced this before? He works
everyday and is very active. This is causing him not only physical
pain but painful embaressment. What is happening, and what can we
do?
