Re: bag leakage   Message List

Hi Rachel

I had a small area of infection under the flange of my ileostomy bag. I used
Orahesive powder on it (made by Convatec). Although strictly an adhesive powder,
it also helped to dry up the wounds which festered a bit because it saw no
daylight! I sprinkled a bit on at bag change time, and dusted off the excess.

Recently, I have had a problem with sore skin. I have been using Pelican barrier
cream, but my supplier Coloplast do 'Comfeel' Barrier cream. Comfeel also comes
in a barrier film which you cut to place a layer between sore skin and the
wafer. It helps it to heal and protects the skin.

I also use a convex baseplate which pushes the stoma spout further into the bag,
therefore ensuring waste finds it difficult to work its way back under the bag
seal.

Kez
