Good Afternoon,
Rachel, please relax. I know this is hard but, I think I can help you.
About six months ago I got a tremendous sore under my illeostomy wafer. The
wafer covered the sore so, since the wafer is of a soft material, I just cut a
hole in the middle of the wafer. Now, I did not allow the hole to go right up
against the stoma because urine would have leaked right under the wafer but, I
did allow air to get to the sore and it healed in two weeks. Yes, I was under a
Doctor's care but, as I am sure you are very well aware, we must be our own
advocate in matters such as these because very few Doctors are use to seeing
things of this nature. Please feel FREE to type to me off the list if you would
like to. Oh, also have you tried something called SKIN PREP? If not, what this
does is forms a protective barrier on the skin and even though it will sting the
sore some, in the end it will protect it ok? If you want to try these things
and let me know how it goes, you are sure welcome to type to me. I am so very
sorry it took so long for me to type to you but, I have been out at my Doctors
all day. Sincerely, Dawn
