Yes, Shel is right - she's worked on trying to get the numbers. Unfortunately, getting the stats in MD, DC is challenging. VA you have the records available from the public health office -but only c/s rates, not the VBAC Ban issue. I am not aware of any hospital in the washington Metro area that has an official ban policy.
Is there anyone who has experienced - or has heard of others who have experienced -a de facto ban?
A few years ago there was some murmuring at Sibley about possibly banning VBAC - but I don't think they implemented a policy on this - however, I wonder if there has been a tacit agreement made there on the issue. Their legal counsel was putting a lot of pressure on the docs with privileges there for a while and I don't know whether this has resulted in a decrease in VBAC rates.

Best of luck! It is difficult to get this information. The best source is http://www.thebirth survey.com/ dev/Results/ learn_state. htm and it's incomplete for Maryland. If you are able to get the information, however, *please* pass it along!!!
