Subject: [icanofbuffalo] Doulas?

Hi Everyone!
My name is Lindsay I've been on this list for about a year but I
haven't been very active. Anyway I am finally pregnant again and
looking forward to a vbac. I decided to stick with my current OB
practice (Hamburg OBGYN) but since my regular obgyn no longer does OB
I am seeing the CNM, Lynn Stock who so far I LOVE. She has been very
supportive of me wanting to have vbac. I am a little concerned that
she may not be the one delivering me depending who is on call so I am
still kind of thinking that over. I have seen all the other docs and
they have all been ok with the Vbac Idea too. Admittedly no one is
jumping up down about it but they have all agreed that is a
reasonable decision and my choice.

I'm about 15 weeks now and want to start looking into doulas. I found
out with my first son that my husband is not a very good coach and I
definitely want a professional there too! My husband thinks this is
a great idea also, I think it will take a lot of stress and pressure
off of him during the delivery.

So I have some questions- When do you normally start interviewing
doulas? How much are they? And most importantly does anyone have
recommendations? I am hoping for a natural drug-free birth and am
considering hypno babies but I have gotten mixed reviews on it. I
definitely want a doula who has experience with vbacs and someone who
will come to my home for the early part of labor.

Any advice would be great!! Thanks!
Lindsay
