Hi
Rachel,
Thanks
for your continued interest!! I will try to do better about keeping
you in the loop going forward!
As
an update, the sponsors and relevant committee chairs have received a binder
with supporting data, including the over 1800 (!) consumer signatures gathered
thus far, and any letters of support from physicians, etc. received so
far. We have in-distric visits planned for midwives/consumers that live
in the home districts of the relevant Senators & Asembly persons for the
next couple of weeks. We don't expect it to be brought to a vote this
year, so we are just trying to gain as much traction as possible before the end
of session. The next step is to start over with renewed vigor in the
fall, to try to get it passed next year. We just have to stay on it!
Feel
free to share this information with your lists. Also, if anyone is
interested in doing so, and has not yet signed the petition, or written a
letter of support, the links are up on the nysalm.org website.
Thanks
so much!
Kristin

Hi Kristin,
This is Rachel from BuffaloBirth Network, which is a local chapter of BirthNetwork National. Myself and our two other head members participated in Lobby day this year.
I’ve been trying to find out through other sources what the status was of the assembly and senate bills – especially in the advent of the shenanigans going on in Albany. Did they go to vote? Did anything happen? If not, what’s next?
I really appreciate any update you can give that I can share – there are a lot of families in WNY who are anxious to know!
Warmly,
Rachel ZellerAdministrative Chair
