This comes from Susan Jenkins of the Big Push from another list...sounds like VBAC will now be possible again in birth centers. There will also be a story tonight on the CBS Evening News with Kati Couric at 6:30 pm.
the announcement by the chairperson of the Commission on Accreditation
of Birth Centers (CABC) that CABC has revised its policies on vbac in accredited birth centers, which will now be permtted to provide vbac services under specified guidelines. Even though only 44 birth centers have presently chosen to become accredited, this is a major breakthrough that is directly responsive to recently-published evicence on vbac safety. It demonstrates, I think, the flexibility of CABC and its readiness to adjust its policies in response to evidence-based studies. |
