EDUCATION, AWARENESS AND CHANGE
The tragic story of Andrea Yates, the Houston mother with postpartum depression who took the lives of her children, still resonates in Houston and in communities across the nation. Using this catastrophic event as a catalyst for education, awareness and change, the Women's Mental Health Initiative at Mental Health America of Greater Houston and Postpartum Support International brings the 22nd Annual PSI International Maternal Mental Health Conference to Houston, Texas.
PRESENTATIONS AND TRAININGS
The conference, scheduled for June 4-7 in Houston, Texas will examine issues in maternal mental health and various systems involved from a biomedical, psychological, familial, cultural, legal, governmental, and academic standpoint. Presentations and trainings from a variety of experts from the U.S. and Canada will arm attendees with current best practices, treatment strategies and awareness tools to help them address the pre- and post-natal wellness needs of mothers in order to prevent tragedy and loss for mothers and families in every community.
