I know I'm not actively posting on here, but I do keep track ;)
I just wanted to share how my VBAC Consult went yesterday. I am
currently seeing the Midwifery Associates and had my VBAC consult with
Univ. OB/GYN. I actually saw Univ. OB/GYN with my first pregnancy so I
was familiar with some of the staff.
Anyway, I had my consult with Dr.Ghomi (who, incidentally was my
favorite OB when I was seeing them--and, for what it's worth, he was
my husband's favorite too.). I had chosen him to do the consult with
and my midwife said she definitely felt he was more apt to listen to
what women wanted which made me feel better.
When I went to see him yesterday a.m. I was pleasantly surprised to
find that he remembered me (I had my first child in 2006). He looked
over my chart, told me the risks (ruptures, etc.), procedures, and
percentages and then finished up with saying he felt that I was a
great candidate for VBAC. He did mention the size of my first baby
(9-lbs 6.5-oz, I'm 5'4" on a good day) and I began to tense. I
expected him to tell me that if this 2nd baby was that large a
C-section would be imminent (as this is what other medical
professionals would tell me when I mentioned it in passing even though
it was not the reason for my first C-section). But no, he just said
that he didn't see how that really mattered and not to worry. I knew
there was a reason I liked this guy!
Well, so far, so good. I hope it all continues to go this way :^)
