Hi there,
Here are three meetings to put on your calendar for this week:
1 - Thursday will be a Core Team meeting for BuffaloBirth at HGB, but everyone is invited to attend. Now that we have some funds, we are looking for input on what direction to go next, as well as possibly filling some short-term leadership positions. If you want to be involved but don't know where to begin, this is a great opportunity! If you plan to attend this meeting, please visit http://www.birthnetwork.org/ and familiarize yourself with their objectives. We are also looking to discuss more possibilities for fundraising, so bring your ideas!
2 - Sunday, 1 p.m. is an educational team meeting at HGB. Some items for discussion include getting a planning committee together for a Midwifery Awareness Walk in the spring to support BB and the Birth Center, and other ways we can educate the community.
3 - Sunday, 2:30 p.m. is ICAN of Buffalo at HGB. My topic is going to be: "Talking to Moms about Cesarean Recovery". This will be an informative meeting for EVERYONE, because I think there's a lot of people who don't know what to say to a mother who has just had a cesarean; and also for cesarean moms who might not know how to communicate their individual feelings about a birth when it didn't turn out as planned. I'd encourage everyone - especially those of you who are CBEs or doulas, but also those of you who have had vaginal births but have friends who have had c-sections and might have "perfect birth guilt" when talking to them - to come. We will be reading some excerpts from ICAN's recently published "Cesarean Voices" which answers the question "What's so bad about a cesarean" in the words of the women from ICAN. It should be an illuminating discussion.
I hope you'll come!!
Rachel
