I have just become aware of the potentially inflammatory material posted
to this list by Abdul Jalal. I apologise to everyone for the misuse of
this group. I have suspended Dr Jalal's direct posting privileges. In
future I will see what Dr Jalal posts before releasing it to the group.
This is not a task that I have time for, or can really take on, so it may
be simpler in the longer run to ban Dr Jalal.

We join these discussion groups on the STRICT understanding that they are
tightly-focussed forums for the exchange of views on specific subjects.
Once this convention is breached, there is no point in having such a
group.

I have moderated a group which "went bad" in this way, through deeply
unpleasant arguments and flaming. It had eventually to be closed down.
I will not allow this to happen to the IASTAM group, quiet though it is.

I am taking this rather stern action right now, to make it clear that only
postings on the subject of Asian Medicine studies will be tolerated in
this forum.
