under the initiative of Dr. Donn Brennan, had its first executive meeting on
Sunday, 9th January 2005. The members present agreed on naming it
Committee for Ayurveda Education
UK. <o:p></o:p><o:p> </o:p>One of the many
issues discussed was the urgent need to create a database of all people
practicing or training in Ayurveda in the <st1:country-region
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">UK</st1:place></st1:country-region>. This
database is necessary to finally begin creating the long overdue unity among
Ayurvedic practitioners in this country, as well as to set up training
programmes, CPD seminars and conferences etc. that are relevant to people's
needs. <o:p></o:p>In order to reach out to as many
people as possible, we are requesting all of you to compile a comprehensive
list of names, addresses and email addresses of all relevant people who you
know are involved in Ayurveda and who you feel would benefit from our work.
Please, arrange your list according to the following Main
Categories:<o:p></o:p><o:p> </o:p><OL style="MARGIN-TOP: 0cm"
type=1><LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-list: l4 level1 lfo1"><st1:place
w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">BAMS</st1:City>, <st1:State
w:st="on">MD</st1:State></st1:place> or PhD (Ayu.) doctors, those with an
older BMAS degree or who are otherwise registered with the CCIM as qualified
Ayurvedic practitioners. <o:p></o:p></LI></OL><o:p> </o:p><OL
style="MARGIN-TOP: 0cm" type=1 start=2><LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-list:
l5 level1 lfo2">Western medical or MBBS doctors with training in Ayurvedic medicine.

l3 level1 lfo3">Graduates of full time/part time degree or diploma courses in the

masseurs, therapists, diet and lifestyle consultants

stakeholders - all those who are interested in and supportive of Ayurveda,
including alternative practitioners and therapists of other systems of
medicine, Ayurvedic suppliers, and Ayurvedic businesses, spas and clinics.

have also created an Education
Questionnaire to be sent to as many people as possible,
requesting information like: what are your qualifications, what are your
educational needs, what type of educational events would you like to attend,
would you be interesting in being a tutor to PG students, would you be able
to contribute to a resource centre etc.? <o:p></o:p><o:p> </o:p>Please note: contacts from the additional categories
A and B will not be sent the
education questionnaire, because all contacts from category A are currently
still under the guidance of their respective institutions, and for the B
contacts this questionnaire is not relevant. However, they should be
included in our general database, so that we can inform them at a later
stage about any future events that are relevant to them, such as seminars, conferences
etc.<o:p></o:p><o:p> </o:p>The Committee for Ayurveda Education are currently creating a website
(<A title=http://www.ayurveda-education.org.uk/
href="http://www.ayurveda-education.org.uk/">www.ayurveda-education.org.uk</
A>), and have already an email address through which all questionnaires will
be sent and received. The site is registered with the Data Protection Act,
so that all information and addressees are protected.
