group.RPAyurveda Group ia a group working for the cases of R.P.
(Retinitis Pigmentosa).It gives information about the disease R.P.&
also about the probable role of Ayurvedic Medicine & panchakarma
Therapy in the management of R.P.It speaks on the issues such as can
we arrest further detereoration of vision with Ayurveda ? Whaty could
be the possibilities of Diet as per Ayurveda for R.P.patients,role of
Poasitive thinking in case of R.P. , how to overcome frustration ,
Depression , "Why Me ?"question in case of R.P. cases.Those who are
R.P. cases & those who are treating R.P. cases with Ayurved & other
alternative therapies are invited to participate in the activities of
the group !!
We have started this group as a good platform for those who are
working
on R.P. Let me share that even I am also working on Ayurvedic
Ophthalmology, in particular on R.P. since last 10 yrs. We have
undertaken whenever possible all modern studies including ERG, Fundus
Photographs etc.& many patients are feeling much better after
receiving therapy. In certain cases even there is improvement of
visual acuity. In many of the patients they have not showed further
deterioration of the vision.
I am postgraduate in Ayurveda ( M.D.(Ayurved)(Mumbai)) from Mumbai
University & also have a Diploma in Ophthalmic Science (Optometry)
from modern institute, School of Optometry, Municipal Eye Hospital,
Mumbai, thereby using modern methodology & ancient wisdom of Ayurveda
(Ayurvedic medications & therapies).
As an Ayurveda & Eye consultant, while treating RP cases at 5
different clinics at Mumbai & Navi Mumbai I found certain interesting
& unbelievable facts! We have never made any tall claims or false
promises about cure of RP, but what I found with many cases of RP
that, their vision - visual acuity can be stabilized maintained & in
certain cases even it has improved from FC 2feets to 6/36P .All these
cases were diagnosed as RP by Vitreoretinal surgeon, & we have tried
to arrange in no. of cases for their fundus photographs & ERG studies.
What I want to say here is we must spread knowledge about positive
attitude, positive approach.about certain relaxation techniques from
yoga, certain good tips of diet from Ayurveda & certain Panchakarma
therapies which showed benefits in such cases.
I also invite other Ayurved consultants who work on similar cases &
express their views & share their experiences.I also would like to
join various Research & social organizations doing wonderful &
meaningful work in this disorder.
