NJIA/STARSEED TAKES PLEASURE IN PRESENTING AN INTENSIVE WORKSHOP:
"INTRODUCTION TO VEDIC ASTROLOGY & ITS MEDICAL APPLICATIONS"

This is a first course in Jyotish (Vedic Astrology) for persons
without a background in that area, with a focus on issues of medical
concern. Some degree of familiarity with Western astrological
concepts may be helpful, but they are not necessary. This course is
intended to introduce the Ayurvedic student to the fundamental
concepts of Jyotish, or Vedic Astrology, and to impart a basic
comprehension of its medical applications.

In addition to its being a required component of the Ayurvedic
Practitioner program, this intensive course will be of interest and
usefulness to Western astrological practitioners and students seeking
a degree of familiarity with Jyotish concepts, to medical
practitioners and other health professionals seeking a more detailed
knowledge of the conceptual framework of Vedic medical astrology, and
to Ayurvedic practitioners seeking to freshen their knowledge and
understanding of this important but complex diagnostic tool. Please
note that this is a credit-bearing course in our Ayurvedic
Practitioner Program.

Registrants desiring practitioner program credit for this course will
be subject to an examination.

Course Instructor: Ellen Leary

Ellen Leary is a certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor who has studied
directly with B.K.S. Iyengar as well as many of his senior teachers.
She has studied Ayurveda with Dr. L. Mahadevan, director of the Sri
Sarada Ayurvedic Hospital in Kanyakumari, India and was previously
tutored for years in Ayurveda by Dr. Robert Svoboda, with whom she
has also conducted research. A student of Swami Dyananda Saraswati
and his senior disciples, she is an ongoing student of Vedanta at
Arsha Vidya Gurukulam in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania. Ms. Leary has a
background in the life sciences as well as in the vedic sciences,
including Ayurveda, Jyotisha (vedic astrology), Vatu Shastra (the
vedic science of environmental medicine) and Ayurvedic manipulative
therapy. She instructs courses in anatomy and physiology, Marma
points therapy, medical astrology and Vatu Shastra at the New Jersey
Institute of Ayurveda.
