Hi everyone, I just returned from L.A. I went to check out the
Hypnoticon Hotel in person and found a few cool things. It's only
about 4 miles from the airport and five from Santa Monica pier and
Venice (muscle) Beach. The hotel itself has some interesting features
that they should promote on their website. The pool has several
fireplaces and lots of seating, which I found especially interesting.
They also have a library, with plenty of alcoves and comfy chairs,
which I utilized for some really interesting "private" sessions. The
hotel staff is really excited about hosting us. Everyone was really
receptive to having fun, and I even did a demonstration in the food
court of the mall across the street.

This post is in regard to the certification program for the first
Hypnoticon, not for any upcoming events.

For those of you working on your certification materials with the
Society of Experiential Trance from the first Hypnoticon . . .
please remember that the accellerated program is a one-time offer in
which those who attended both the morning and afternoon sessions of
my intensive course on Friday during the premiere Hypnoticon may
streamline their examination/demonstration process.  You are
required to demonstrate each of the required skillsets on video only
once (normally, the video exam option requires more demonstrations
but those who attended the first Hypnoticon course are given
preferential treatment).

As you know, Hypnoticon 08 Atlanta attendees who who submit your
materials to me (Brian David Phillips) BEFORE 01 August 2008 and are
passed through the review process will receive one year membership
with SET gratis.  This was a special cooperative program with the
first Hypnoticon and expires soon, so if you're working on your
submission, make sure you get it done in time.  Hypnoticon was an
official SET convention and so the special membership program was
part of that relationship.

I'm one of the ones who asked Brian about this at the event (at the
last after-hours party in David's room, iirc), and I got started as
soon as I could by using my fellow classmates at the Walkabout Trance
event in Hermosa Beach. I have 8 videos already and working on the rest.

Hopefully, I'll continue to have smooth sailing in this regard and get
the certification in a month or two.

A number of you have asked me about the "certification" option
available to those who attended both sessions of the "accellerated
intensive review" with me on Friday at HYPNOTICON.  We have recently
changed a few of the requirements (streamlining the process and
providing some helpful weblinks to some of the more unique skillsets
listed).

Originally, the Friday session was intended as a certification review
for those wishing to join the Society of Experiential Trance.  Since
the session was posted as an "Advanced" workshop, I changed the
material covered.  However, those wishing to join the SET can still
do so by completing a streamlined "video exam" and submitting it.

Just go to http://www.trancesociety.org and check the "certification"
section for "hypnotist" (the basic membership qualification).
Instead of completing a live exam, you may submit a streamlined video
exam.  This means you need only demonstrate each skillset listed
once.  You only need to have one trance partner for a streamlined
video exam.  Those who are passed will receive one year certified
membership with the SET from the date of appoval at no extra charge
as part of the convention package.  Regular mateirals review fees are
waived for convention attendees.  However, you must submit your video
examination materials within six months of the convention (all
materials are due before August 1, 2008).

You may submit your materials via disk or online (if you have the
material online, you will need to email me the ftp location with
access information).  Most folks snail mail a dvd with their
submission package.

I had a really wonderful time with everyone at Hypnoticon, and
thoroughly enjoyed Richard and Brian's Walkabout weekend at Hermosa
beach. My head is still spinning with all of the ideas that I came
away with.   I'm busy restructuring the Hypnoticon website, and will

What reason did they give for the double charge, that is unacceptable

Attendees: Check your next credit statement if you paid your hotel
room with a credit card. I just got mine and it had a double-charge
recorded on it. I called the hotel and was told that double-charges
had been sent out but that they should be corrected in 7-10 days.

It may just be American Express (which is what I used) but it may
apply to other credit cards, as well.

I only had the opportunity to attend the evening performances, the
Power exchange panel and the post con panel...although I am looking
forward to being more involved in the con next year!!! There were some
changes I experienced and a few things that were familiar from other
aspects of my life...First of all the changes before the con I had
only been tranced and by 1 person after the con I had been tranced by
2 others and the other day I gave my first trance...the person is very
skilled and told me that they thought I did well for a first trance
that occurred on the spot without prior thought. I will be spending
more time this coming year learning more about trance, NLP and
focusing on my personal energy output.

The familiar aspects were the overwhelming feelings of the positive
healing energy that flowed throughout the con and into Dinner at Ted's
on Sunday and finally back to Davids room before I sadly had to
depart. The only other time I have been surrounded by that much
positive flowing energy was at the Starwood Festival in Sherman NY at
the end of July after Sirius Rising. Now I can have the festival for a
summer energy boost and the con for a winter boost!!!!!

Strangely enough, I was just pondering this same question myself a few
days ago. Im retiscent to phrase it as *the most* What is important to
me is that something changed. That something is a good change.
Somewhere along the weekend I found some serious internal growth which
I wholely attribute to one of the Saturday trainings. Its not possible
for me to say exacly which one nor am I able to pinpoint exacly what it
was that penetrated. Strangely enough for someone that is as analytical
as I have a penchant to be at times it does not matter where or when or
how. It only matters that it did and that I take those learnings and
continue to expand on them, play with them and grow even further so
that next year I will be ready for any other changes that may happen to
occur LOL!.
