In area that I live in the difference between hypnosis and
hypnotherapy depends on the local or state laws. In Missouri I have to
call myself a hypnotist because I am not medically trained or an
ordained minster. In the state of Kansas I'm a hypnotherapist because
of my education and training.

... Hypnosis is a marginally broader concept, that's all. Hypnotherapy is hypnosis used therapeutically. Whether the subject speaks during the session or not...
