Oh, another self-important doctor/scientist who gets stage time and gains
fame by targeting a politically correct target.
Sorry, I don't buy into it.
The fact that smoking is a politically correct target is a mixed blessing.
For us, as hypnotists, it helps drive people to our doors. But, what about
all the other issues, which, in my opinion, are just as valid targets? From
what I've read and heard, though not scientifically studied, stress and
sedimentary lifestyles are just as valid if not more so related to early
death.
And fuss as people may, the fact is that a person's life expectancy is much
greater today than 30 years ago.
In regards to cancer, as I understand it, 20 years ago, it was 1 in 20
people that got cancer. Today, it is 1 in 7. Even though smoking has
decreased, the cancer rate has increased. Why?
Maybe we should consider the foods that we eat and the stress we place upon
ourselves.
As hypnotists, we all are aware of the effect of how a thought process can
create stress and physical change in the body. Could it be that people are
being driven to be being so self-conscious about their lifestyle that they
actually create their conditions? Hmm....
Not trying to start a flame war, but the fact remains that we all die. The
question is when. I've helped many people quit smoking - it accounts for
probably 30% of our business. But it works for those who want to quit - not
those who feel forced to quit.
Oh, and since Donald Robertson posted the original msg, let me say that I'm
not flaming him at all, but rather all the hype over one single element
versus all the rest in the pot.
