Re: [hypno] A Long Winters Nap - relaxation CD   Message List

An early spring

One of the things I love best about my life and my business is the
variety of thought that it provokes. I am fascinated by the way that we
all hear and react to the same experiences.

We hear what we want to hear, interpret it in our unique way and get the
results we are looking for.
A man in Boston emailed me and said that I should hypnotize him to make
him stop hearing my radio ads, because my voice was like fingernails on
a chalkboard and he couldn't take it anymore. I never heard that
before. :-)
Interesting.
Same ad, same voice, and someone emails and says, when I heard your
voice on the radio I just knew you could help me. So soothing!
We hear what we want, and filter it to fit our reality.

If you are looking to prove that something doesn't work you will get the
results you are looking for- whether it is hypnosis CDs, medication, or
even a glass of water. A study that had people sampling water, made them
test the city water and the bottled water in identical cups, and (I
don't remember the stats) something like 95% felt certain they loved the
bottled water best, because it tasted so great. But of course, both cups
were city water.

We get what we expect. We can alter our perception to prove ourselves
right (as in the taste of water, or the sound of a radio voice).
I guess it just depends on what we want to be right about.

If Mel were to listen to my CDs, would he get any benefit? Would he hear
them through his filter? Is there a benefit for him if they don't work?
You bet! One of our highest needs as humans is to be right. ( I am not
finding fault here.. Just stating a point. Which, by the way I am right
about, am I not?)
We will go to great lengths to be right. It is human nature. Our mind
will create the proper conditions to support the outcome we need to be
right.

In hypnosis, this is a very important point. Forgiveness, healing,
transformation, can only happen if the client feels on every level that
it is the right thing to do.

Having an opinion is a great thing. Expressing it freely is what makes
us interesting. Our need to be right is probably a driving force that
leads us to discoveries and breakthroughs. And it creates a lot business
for therapists.

Wendi

PS- the only CDs of mine that I claim are the best in the universe are
my Zen of Thin CDs. There are lots of other magnificent CDs and videos
out there from other hypnotists, of course, and many talented people
making them who I respect very highly. So, that title belongs only to
that one program. :-)
PPSS- and the reason I mentioned about my web site ranking was only to
make sure that Mel understands that I know of what I speak. Sometimes I
get carried away with it all. Back on earth.
