Hi all,
Just going to drop my two pence in.....
New Scientist vol 136 issue 1845 31 Oct 92. page 6
First line says " Hypnosis is the most effective way of giving up smoking,
according to the largest ever scientific comparison of ways of quitting the
habit."
Based upon 600 studies covering 72,000 people.
The results were published in the Applied journal of Psychology.
Willower accounted for around 6% with NRT at double that (double your
chances of quitting - remember the TV ad)
.... and yes I agree with you on practice builders.
Best wishes to all and sundry.

Dear Alice
There's a lot of nonsense in smoking cessation research from the
drivel you quoted to the claims of 95+% success for the hypno-nlp
combi treatment based on alleged trials with 300 people and plugged
by offshoots of the Practice Builders marketing organisation, which
is equally rubbish.
Hypnosis has, however, been proven to be the second most effective
way of making someone quit smoking.
Best wishes
