The Complete Writings of James Braid

I'm pleased to announce that Amazon now have a stock of my new
edition of James Braid's collected writings. You can buy the book
online and get it delivered from Amazon free of charge. There are only
two copies left in stock at the moment but once they sell out Amazon
will replenish the stock. Amazon have images from the book, the full
table of contents, an excerpt, and a "search inside" facility
that lets you browse some of the contents online. You can also order a
copy from Anglo-American books, or if you purchase it direct from the
National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) all of the profits will go to
the society for the benefit of their membership. I think a hypnotist
who hasn't read Braid is a bit like a psychoanalyst who hasn't
read Freud. Most of Braid's writings have been out-of-print since
his death, especially his later works, but these are now republished in
a single volume with Dr. John Milne Bramwell's excellent
biographical account of Braid's life and work and a brand new
translation (from French) of Braid's final "lost manuscript"
entitled On Hypnotism (1860) summarising his mature theory and practice
for the French Academy of Sciences.
