Description

This is a moderated support group for the benefit of people who are suffering from any form of hyperparathyroidism (HPT); primary (pHPT), secondary (sHPT) or tertiary (tHPT). Both people who have HPT and people who care about people who are suffering from HPT are welcome. If you used to have HPT, you are especially welcome, as are people whose profession involves helping people with HPT.

The parathyroid gland is not to be confused with its neighbor, the thyroid gland. They have different sizes, forms and functions. Usually they are situated beside (Greek: para) one another, hence the name "parathyroid" gland. A hyperactive parathyroid gland produces too much parathyroid hormone (PTH), causing many problems.

Members may select to receive "Individual Emails", "Daily Digest" or "Special Notices". "No Email" is not an option. Instead, choose "Special Notices". We send out few special notices. When we do, you need to read them. If you have selected "No Email", please change it to "Special Notices" or it will be changed for you by a moderator or the owner.

Bouncing emails will cause a member to be put on probation. If the member's account is still bouncing after a week, then that member will have his or her membership terminated. The ex-member may re-apply for membership afterwards.

Posting Messages

1. If you are writing about pHPT, you are on topic.
2. If you are writing about sHPT or tHPT, you are on topic.
3. If you are writing to help learn whether someone has HPT or not, you are on topic.
For more details re: posting on topic, please read "Posting Guidelines" in "Files".

Also, all messages should be connected to the message's subject heading; threads that change focus should have their subject headers changed by posters.

Members who post inappropriately will be moderated.
There is a sister group called EndoConnections you may find interesting. See LINKS.

Re: New to Group
Hi Siestasoon, Welcome to the group! It's astounding how doctors are so reluctant to treat hyperparthyroidism (HPT) with such an effective cure available.
