HEYWhat side is your shunt on? My daughter (10) just had to have her appendix removed due to the fact it ruptured and her shunt was on the same side the RIGHT... almost had to have it replace because the Drs thought it was infected due to the appendix....Thank God it was fine....We were in the hospital for a WEEK tho...The sad part they had done an X-RAY and nothing showed up til a CAT was done but then it was too late we had to have emergency surgery. Hope this helps

i have been having really sharp pain around the shunt tube in my

is worse. any ideas?
my son has a vp shunt on his right side, he too complains of hurting around the tubing also. The doctor said it was scar tissue that sarrounds the shunt. He has had shunt series done and it showed everything to be ok. I wish they could come up with a way that all of you would not have to go through the pain of shunts. Yes it saved his life but there are so many things to watch for with hydro that it can get real overwelming. My son wbo is fifteen has always been healthy untill nov of 2003 when he was very first diagnosed with hydro, he had his first revison in feb and they cracked his skull open in feb, where they intended to remove the tissue mass that caused they hydro but were only able to put a whole on the mass. We have no idea how the tissue mass formed in the brain so we were very confused, ihave learned olot thruogh this group and hope everyone is ok. darlene
