I need some answers to my questions. My husbands neice was diagnosed
with hydrocephalus, which she has not had treatment for . She would
be turning 1 in December. I say would because I have recently
learned that this child while in the care of a friend of her mothers
apparently fell off of the couch and was not concious afterwards.
She was rushed to the hospital and has been on life support, which
they have decided to take her off of tomorrow. My questions are ; If
a child has hydrocephalus and falls off of a couch , could that fall
cause what has happened to this child since there would be pressure
around her brain?
2. Could they tell if she is in this condition from Shaken Baby
Syndrome even though she has Hydrocephalus?
3. Would an atopsy prove it was Shaken Baby Syndrome and not from
the fall even though she has Hydrocephalus or vice versa?
Iam very confused and this is such an tragic event. I have heard the
authorities are going to be arresting the young male that was
watching her at the time.
