Hi, my name is Mags I have been a member of this group for quite some the now. I've only known that I have congenital hydrocephalus since I was twenty. Since then I have had a few new shunts and problems with shunts too. Recently I had what was described as an epileptic seizure. What I am interested to know is how many other people with hydrocephalus also have epilepsy as well, thanks.
LOL! Forgive the laugh, but I thought the concept of "congenital" means you were BORN with it.
Someone else will have to verify this for me.
Did you have a seizure at the same time you were having a shunt malfunction? I have had several - but only as a sign of a shunt problem. To me, that does not equal epilepsy. However, they have been quite real even though they went away with surgery.
If you have seizures at other times then that may indeed qualify it as epilepsy. I hope you have treatment for it.
