I think my fiancee is about to have a "revision". The last time it was repaired and now, we believe it is going to have to be replaced, due to an infection.......Lord, we (I) have been dreading this. He had at first been having the shots for the infection, then, because it hurt him so bad, he began using the pads (Lidoderm Patch 5%) and now they are not very helpful now.j.darlene(cloud)harper

Wow you're new at this. Welcome. I think.
A "revision" is the fancy codeword we use for surgery. A shunt revision is
literally where the surgeon "revises" the shunt so it functions again,
whether it is repaired, replaced, or both. It can be to treat any
reason.... infection, blockage, breakage (however rare) etc etc. typically,
by basic definition,
any shunt operation except for the first one (although
it may be included if you wish).
