Re: [hydrocephalus] Shunt Related Headache Location

Get your shunt replaced or repaired, keep at the doctors til they realise how serious it is, that's what I had to do for my son, he was rushed as an emergency in the end despite me telling them 2 weeks earlier it was his shunt.  He is fine now, recovering nicely.

Do you also have drainage coming out of your ears or ear plus severe pain which feels as if were deep inside the ear canal ?  I suffer from that problem pretty much on a daily basis.  I take pain meds ALL the time.  If I didn't there would be no way for me to function.  Just making minimal movements that jar my head.  Air also triggers the problem.  Do you take pain meds ?  If so, what type ?  I am still attempting to find the right one for me.  Do you have vision loss ?  My peripheral vision in the left eye is practically gone.  I am wondering if the sight loss is due to my hydro ?

Jill

I get the same kind of problems and the scans always show slits  when my headaches come I can only get relief by lying down. I also have 2 shunts due to a partial blockage in my right one so they put in a second in 92

What areas of the head will pain if headaches are caused by chronic shunt over-drainage and what areas of the head will pain if the headaches are caused by chronic shunt under-drainage? Ilana Deaf-Blind N24M 8/5/00 Nucleus Freedom 8/5/06 Ilana2@yebo.co.za
